Qtek S110 - minor upgrade to Qtek S100 (HTC Magician) announced
June 22, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
It looks exactly like Qtek S100 (HTC Magician) and has all other features the same, with one minor difference: it offers 128 MB of RAM, instead of 64 MB.
Some highlights of Qtek S110:
- looks exactly the same as other HTC Magician phones like T-Mobile MDA Compact or i-mate JAM
- 64 MB ROM and 128 MB RAM
- powered by Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition - no Windows Mobile 5.0 plus no certainty that upgrade to 5.0 will ever be available
- tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 (2 European bands plus 1 American band; American band GSM850 is missing)
- GPRS
- SDIO card slot (you can put there Wi-Fi card)
- Bluetooth (but with poor Microsoft Bluetooth stack, so LAN access profile for example is missing)

Conclusions: too little too late. HTC Magician still remains the smallest and the cheapest Pocket PC phone on the market and clearly HTC and their distributors (like Qtek) does not feel compelled to release some major upgrade yet. Probably HTC is planning major upgrade at the end of this year - not earlier - in form of phones like HTC Wizard.
