Review of HP iPaq Mobile Messenger hw6515 + very harsh audio interview with HP Europe about this phone July 06, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. No small talk. No trying to be nice. Just very harsh, relentless questioning HP about their new iPAQ phone. Not only questioning but also testing and double checking. Almost everything audio recorded and published as podcast - for you to enjoy! Contrary to other news sources, that have to be polite with HP, we tried to get maximum information out of HP at any cost. Here it comes: interview with HP people and review of the new HP iPAQ phone. We went so far as to compare sensibility and operation of GPS that is built-in into HP iPAQ hw6515 with ultra-sensitive Bluetooth GPS receiver of latest generation:
Believe it or not - but we have tested - indoors - with just a view to sky through remote window:
... and incredibly the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger managed to get GPS fix, although our super sensitive Bluetooth GPS receiver (in combination with HTC Magician) failed! Such incredibly fast GPS fixing (finding location) - in a very difficult conditions (i.e. practically indoors with remote view to sky) was possible thanks to "assisted GPS" technology that loads additional (current) information about GPS satellites from the server:
During this interview we were chatting mainly with Christian Chaffard from HP France:
Below you can see some comparative pictures with HTC Magician phone. Although having approximately the same thickness as HTC Magician, the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger is however bigger:
Here you can see that the new iPAQ phone has a flash:
... and that also belt clip is included with this phone:
