Microsoft to launch new competency in Fall 2005 : Mobility Solutions Competency July 15, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. Any professional can pass official Microsoft exams (that are not free!) to get proper certifications and become "Microsoft certified professional" of proper name. If given company has enough certified professionals and fulfills other Microsoft's criteria (like reference projects, etc), then it can become "Microsoft certified partner" - regular or gold. All these certifications are covering various "competencies". While by now these competencies covered various types of server software, desktop software, office programs, etc, one additional competency will be added by Microsoft to the palette in Fall 2005: Mobility Solutions Competency. 
Information from Microsoft follows. * * * * * The Mobility Solutions Competency is designed for partners who are providing solutions that enable customers to access information on the go, thus increasing employee productivity and customer response rates while reducing business cycles and, ultimately, costs. With Microsoft Windows Mobile software, data can be captured quickly and accurately and processed to a business system more rapidly than with paper-based approaches. In addition, multiple devices such as walkie-talkies, pagers, mobile phones, and PDAs can converge into one multifunctioning Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC or Smartphone. The Mobility Solutions Competency represents Windows Mobile software for Pocket PCs, for Pocket PC Phone Edition, and for Smartphones as a complete Mobility Solutions platform. With Windows Mobile software, developers in your organization can use existing PC and Microsoft .NET programming skills and your IT professionals can apply security and systems management policies and procedures while extending existing systems in a manageable, scalable manner. This new Microsoft Competency is expected to launch in Fall 2005. Partners who attain the Mobility Solutions Competency have proven competency in developing and deploying Windows Mobile-based solutions and applications using Microsoft tools and software. This will include Mobility independent software vendors, systems integrators, Mobility custom application developers, consultants, and Mobile Solutions resellers. All active Microsoft Partner Program participants who meet the requirements are eligible to attain the Mobility Solutions Competency. Although this new competency is not launching before Fall 2005, you can already start getting ready by clicking here, learning more about Microsoft partner programs, and registering your company as Microsoft partner (at first without "certified" part).
