Rumor: Orange SPV M3000 coming soon - or in other words: HTC Wizard
July 25, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
If Orange SPV M5000 (i.e. HTC Universal) would be too big for you, then HTC is preparing a small Pocket PC phone codenamed "HTC Wizard":
... and that will be sold under name "Orange SPV M3000". They key to big success of Nokia (number one phone vendor in the world) is to cover possibly all market segments by releasing many models of phones, that satisfy needs in these various segments... and it looks like HTC is now the same strategy..
Some highlights about this phone:
- size: 108x58x23 mm - i.e. exactly the same width and height as HTC Magician (i.e. Orange SPV M500, MDA Compact, i-mate JAM) but thicker - HTC Magician has size: 108x58x18.1
- 4 hours of talk time and 7 days of stand-by
- display: QVGA - 240x320 (it would be pointless to put VGA/640x480 display in such a small phone)
- built-in camera 1.3 megapixel
- no 3G, but support for GPRS and EDGE
- built-in Wi-Fi
- powered by Windows Mobile 5.0
- built-in Qwerty keyboard - slide-out (retractable)
