Story about how Motorola Q was unveiled
July 26, 2005 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R.

Motorola Q phone was unveiled during MOTONOW event that took place yesterday. Contrary to what all analysts and journalists expected, CEO of Motorola - Ed Zander, explained that the Motorola phone with iTunes will not be unveiled in this particular event, but a separate special event will be organized for this purpose! Instead of iTunes phone, CEO of Motorola, in cooperation with CEO of Microsoft (Steve Ballmer) has unveiled Motorola Q smartphone!

At first CEO of Motorola was talking with another employee of Motorola about various other non-smartphone models of Motorola (including new stylish phones with similar design as Motorola RAZR V3):

On picture above, on the left side of the picture, you can see a stand with "M" symbol of Motorola, where Motorola Q smartphones were lying - still hidden. Then Steve Ballmer (CEO of Microsoft) was called to speak with Motorola - over video link:

Steve Ballmer was very enthusiastic, maybe a bit too enthusiastic because (unintentionally?) he shortly showed Motorola Q - before CEO of Motorola officially unveiled it:

... and when CEO of Motorola said "gosh! after all these years it's great to be with Microsoft ... I can't believe it I said that ... " then Steve Ballmer was even more enthusiastic:

After CEO of Motorola finished talking to CEO of Microsoft, then the official unfoldment of Motorola Q took place:

Interesting phrase there was "we gonna call it 'Q' for Qwerty"

Interestingly also a black version of Motorola Q was presented:

When Ed Zander asked the other Motorola employee when this phone will be ready, he said: "first quarter of 2006 but we will try hard to get ready already in fourth quarter of 2005". Then Ed Zander allowed himself snide remark directed at Steve Ballmer by saying "make sure your software is not late!"!

Interestingly Steve Ballmer also mentioned good Office integration as one of advantages of Windows Mobile! Clearly Steve Ballmer doesn't know that Microsoft Smartphone version of Windows Mobile doesn't have Office Mobile at all!

After the presentation of Ed Zander ended then the curtain has been unveiled and all journalists and analysts were allowed to come over and play with all the new phones, including the Motorola Q smartphones!
