6thsense available now also for MS Smartphone - socialize over Bluetooth ! August 13, 2005 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. "6th sense" idea is similar to SmartJacking - in other words: socializing over Bluetooth with people in your vicinity. This program is available for MS Smartphone and also for Symbian Series 60 devices. Unfortunately there is no version for Pocket PC.... Information from the vendor: 6th Sense is a new service for your mobile phone that enables your phone to find people around you that YOU want to meet. With 6th Sense, your phone scans the area around you to find people that have what is "right" for you and notifies you. First you fill out the information about yourself and what you are looking for on the website. You go to the bar and start up 6th Sense on your phone. Soon your phone alerts you of potential matches nearby. Think of it as an icebreaker, or like a nametag, or a term we like to use, wearable website. Of course its not just for dating, you can use it to find business partners, friends, other members in a group or club, etc. Using 6th Sense does not in any way increase your risk of getting a Bluetooth virus. In fact, 6th Sense uses a minimal amount of Bluetooth functionality, no actual user data is transmitted via Bluetooth. To learn more click here. Verdict: as always in case of "socializing over Bluetooth" software the problem is that usually when you visit some place (like a pub, or night club, or train, etc) then usually all other people in this place don't have the same Bluetooth socializing software as you have... so unless mobile phone industry would agree on some standard in this area, we will not see any breakthrough and such programs and services will remain just a tiny niche of little public interest.
