Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 Community Tech Preview is now available August 20, 2005 [General] | By anonymous 6. Microsoft has released a download of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2. We take it thru the steps to see the new features and show you the differences and improvements. To use the mobility features, you need a mobile device with Windows Mobile™ 5.0 installed. For most of the other features to work, the Messaging and Security Feature Pack for Windows Mobile 5.0 must be installed also.
The new features include a huge emphasis upon Mobility Enhancements, in particular ActiveSync Server can now do email push, much like the highly regarded BlackBerry push email. Direct push is a new Exchange technology that maintains an open connection between the mobile device and the server. When new items arrive, they are automatically pushed down to the device.
Exchange Server 2003 SP2 can synchronize Tasks with ActiveSync Server now, See before and after screenshots: Before Exchange Server 2003 SP2:
