Google Talk launched but no Windows Mobile IM client can handle it yet August 24, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. Google Talk is a new ground breaking Instant Messaging (IM) service from market leader in Internet search engines - Google! Intrestingly this service is compatible with Jabber standard of IM. However IM+ - a Jabber compatible IM client for Windows Mobile (both Pocket PC and Smartphone) is not working with Google Talk! We therefore urge all users of Windows Mobile to try before buying any IM client that claims to be Jabber compatible! Anna Fedorova, from IM+ Support Team of SHAPE Services Ltd writes: We're currently working about this version and it will be released on the next week. Please keep patience and follow our site updates! Conclusion: claim of being "Jabber compatible" is not enough for a messenger to work with Google Talk. One should keep in mind: before buying any IM client for your Windows Mobile device, you should download trial version for free and try if it works specifically with Google Talk ... and if no trial version is available, then just don't buy it! Please note: Google Talk offers also Voice over IP feature, but voice quality of this feature is lower than that of Skype. Related links:
