What will be the first Windows Mobile 5.0 device on the market? The race is on August 24, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. Contrary to what certain people claim, this race is not over yet and nobody can yet claim the victory. We have indications that in fact first Windows Mobile 5.0 device may become available already at the beginning of September - i.e. before the official launch time of Windows Mobile 5.0 : October 1st 2005! Here certain online retailer from UK claims, that Qtek 9100 Pocket PC phone with Windows Mobile 5.0 will be available already on Monday 05 September, 2005! On the other hand it is possible that non-phone PDA iPAQ rx1950 may be the first Windows Mobile 5.0 device on sale. Read more here (in Spanish). Please note also that several mobile operators, including T-Mobile, are preparing to launch next generation of MS Smarphone phones, and these phones will be also powered by Windows Mobile 5.0. Conclusion: you should not pre-order any Windows Mobile 5.0 devices until they will have status "in-stock" because retailers tend to announce unrealistic release dates that later one are being postponed many times... Purpose of such announcements is to attract customers and to sell these upcoming phones for a higher price!
