The first in the world full blown review of HTC Universal : T-Mobile MDA Pro review
August 25, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
Have you ever wanted to know how 3G/UMTS video calling looks like in Windows Mobile? ... or how will video calling application in HTC Universal look like? Not a problem anymore! Just take a look at this screen shot:
While most poeple who already have HTC Universal have signed NDA and cannot publish anything specific... this is not a problem for us... Here comes the first full blown (not just short and limited preview) review of HTC Universal! Read on!
Firstly let us notice, that the first place where "HTC Universal" code name was revealed was not some website, but German (paper) magazine "connect"! It is the very same magazine where first full blown review of HTC Universal branded by T-Mobile - T-Mobile MDA Pro - has been published! In latest issue of "connect" one can notice full review of T-Mobile MDA Pro:
Here are some selected highlights from this review:
- Pros: GPRS, UMTS, WLAN (i.e. Wi-Fi), Bluetooth, practically usable keyboard with additional touch screen, video calling, extensive software package
- Cons: big (129 x 79 x 22 m) and heavy (0.286 kg)
- combination of high resolution display (640x480 pixels) with UMTS (mainly European and Japanese standard for 3G) brings very comfortable web browsing experience
- ClearVue PDF viewer included + possiblity to edit native MS Word and MS Excel documents (a feature of Windows Mobile 5.0 and its Office Mobile software)
- please note: cost-free and superior (including super important "reflow" feature) PDF viewer for Pocket PC is available for free from Adobe anyway - so including ClearVue PDF viewer is not particularly important
- high resolution display (640x480 pixels) brings 4 times more area than regular Pocket PC phones (320x240 pixels)
Online version of this review, albeit limited, is available here (in German). "connect" magazine - issue 9 / 25.08.2005 - with review of T-Mobile MDA Pro - is available now anywhere in German speaking countries - Germany, Austria and Switzerland...
