Integrating Windows Media Player Mobile into C++ applications and HTML pages August 27, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. Windows Media Player Mobile doesn't have to be used stand-alone only - you can embed it in your own applications and put it on mobile web pages... Microsoft has just published samples that demonstrate how to embed Windows Media Player: The two Windows Media Player Mobile code samples included in this package demonstrate how to embed Windows Media Player 10 Mobile in an HTML page and in a C++ application. The samples are named Web App and CEWMPHostML. The purpose of the Web App sample is to show you what events are being fired when a media item is played back by displaying WMPPlayState enumeration values in a text box. These enumeration values correspond to various states such as buffering, stopping, playing, and so on. For more information about these enumeration values, see the Windows Media Player 10 SDK. Note The default media location specified in the HTML file points to \storage card\Web App\. If you are installing it in any location other than the storage card, you must edit the HTML source code before the sample will behave properly. The purpose of the CEWMPHostML sample is to show you how to retrieve valid Windows Media Player Mobile interface pointers and properties of a media item. The sample also shows you how to programmatically search through items in your media library and add new items to a playlist. This sample is based on the WMPHost and WMPML code samples that ship with the Windows Media Player 10 SDK. Note The Pocket PC and Smartphone executables have a dependency on the atlce400.dll file (found in the Pocket PC 2003 and Smartphone 2003 SDKs), so this .dll must be registered on the device or placed in the same directory as the executable.
