T-Mobile MDA Pro goes on sale September 1st 2005 - one month sooner than expected !
August 30, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.

If anybody had any doubts that Windows Mobile is superior to Symbian, then T-Mobile MDA Pro Pocket PC phone will remove any such doubts:

T-Mobile MDA Pro Pocket PC phone

T-Mobile MDA Pro is a "HTC Universal" model branded by T-Mobile and it will go on sale (in Germany at first, but UK will follow soon) already on September 1st 2005 (i.e. the day after tomorrow! yet this week!)! With VGA display (640x480 pixels compared to lame 640x200 in Nokia communicator series), UMTS/3G support and touch screen it beats in all respects Nokia Communicator phones and practically has chances to become the most desirable PDA phone for top-notch professionals and managers! Important notice: this phone will be available also through other operators and distributors - including Orange, O2, Vodafone, i-mate, etc.

At this moment there is no information available in English about this early launch of T-Mobile MDA Pro, only information in German - see here - at the website of T-Mobile Germany - but as soon as more information in English will be available we will inform you!

Here are some highlights about this phone:
  • price: between 430 and 500 euro if purchased with subscription or 750 euro without subscription
  • fast processor: 520 MGHz Intel Bulverde
  • WLAN, UMTS and GPRS in one. UMTS = European and Japanese standard for 3G networks. Since T-Mobile offers also WLAN (i.e. Wi-Fi) hot spots, having built-in Wi-Fi is not in conflict with mobile phone business.
  • the model under question is with German operating system and German keyboard layout (letter "Z" is there where letter "Y" is in English keyboards). Home page of German T-Mobile MDA Pro is here. Anyway: very soon also T-Mobile UK will be offering this phone with English operating system and keyboard, however one should remember that contrary to smartphones, in Pocket PC phones it is not possible to change language of user interface without burning new ROM image into the phone...
