i-mate officially launches HTC Universal Pocket PC phone September 01, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. HTC Universal will be sold by i-mate as "i-mate JASJAR" - a very ugly and unappealing name, that reminds of a most hated character in Star Wars saga: an alien of name "JARJAR". While first information about this phone was leaked by British on-line retailer Expansys, now also i-mate itself has released information about it. By the way: once again boss of i-mate - Jim Morrison - is boasting about i-mate being creator of new technologies, while in fact, i-mate is just a distributor that puts label on phones designed, developed and manufactured by HTC! 
Anyway: clearly "October 2005" release date for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices is no longer valid! Both T-Mobile Germany and i-mate are shipping HTC Universal powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 already now and therefore we can expect that also HTC Wizard and other phones powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 will be available commercially already in September 2005!
