New articles from Microsoft: Sprint PPC 6700, A Super Model + I Have an iMate Jasjar!
September 21, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.

Suzanne Ross, whose sole qualification is being "fond of her two laptops, two desktops, and a Windows Mobile-based Smartphone and Pocket PC" has again scored paid job at Microsoft: she has written for Microsoft 2 extremely amateurish articles about latest Pocket PC phones: Here are some quotes:

If you like to browse the Internet on your device (think unlimited data plan) you'll like the speed of EVDO. Our internal newsgroups have been raving about EVDO on other devices. How fast is EVDO? Where available, you can receive speeds up to 400-700 kbps, and peak speeds up to 2.0 Mbps when downloading content.

[...]

The Jasjar has something that smaller devices don't have—a built-in video cam that can point to you, so that you can show off your pretty face to your friends and co-workers. If you have a 3G network, you can even place a video call. Since I couldn't test this out, I can only imagine that you also need someone on the other end with a similar device to receive your call, or perhaps place the call over the Internet. It's a real 'Jetson' feature. We're finally there!

As you can see above these articles not only are superficial but also incomplete - they don't cover not only fast UMTS downloads but also don't describe satisfactorily the 3G video calling feature! Moreover these articles are misleading and show total ignorance of Suzanne Ross, for example where she depicting video calls: "perhaps place the call over the Internet", what is completely misleading and wrong, because 3G video calls are being carried out through UMTS network only - without use of Internet...

Why should we wonder however? Very often personal decisions in Microsoft are based on nepotism rather than competence! Example: Suzan DelBene got her current high position at Windows Mobile (she is one of 3 top executives in Microsoft's Windows Mobile and Embedded division) just because her husband Kurt DelBene had arranged this position for her. Just imagine: before joining Windows Mobile division Suzan DelBene had no experiences with mobility whatsoever. Nothing, nada.
