i-mate floated
September 25, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R.

Jim Morrison, CEO and owner of i-mate, British citizen originally from Scotland:

.... is effectively floating i-mate company on stock market in London and scores 249 million British pounds for it!

... that's not all! i-mate to release new software too! Read on!

There are also rumors that i-mate will soon release (announce?) new software "OneView" that should enable remote access to any Windows system in the world through Windows Mobile powered 3G phones! This sounds a little "strange" because Terminal Server client is already built-in into Pocket PC version of Windows Mobile phones and VNC client can be downloaded for free... so it looks like this OneView will not do anything new.

Anyway: i-mate is just a distributor of Windows Mobile phones powered by Windows Mobile and manufactured by HTC, so it is difficult to understand how this Scott (whose company i-mate was first located in Australia and lately moved to Dubai, UAE) managed to score such high price on the stock market! Maybe: offering overpriced phones due to access to Club-i-mate portal is the answer? Anyway: i-mate is just a distributor - it is not designing and not manufacturing these phones... and we recommend all users to buy the Windows Mobile phones rather directly at operators, who thanks to big volumes can offer lower prices... Official information from i-mate follows.
