Video interviews with Palm employees about Treo for Windows Mobile + official links with more information
September 27, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.

Incredible but true: Palm has cooperated with Microsoft on the construction of Treo for Windows Mobile for 2 years! Here we present links to video interviews made by Mike Hall (the main podcasting fanboy in the Windows Mobile division) plus other links to additional information about Treo for Windows Mobile.

Drunken with victory:

... Microsoft employees barely notice that there is still a lot to do in Windows Mobile area: Symbian still has over 95% of global market share and Microsoft has problems with timely release of push e-mail component for Windows Mobile 5.0 (currently Windows Mobile 5.0 devices are shipped without push e-mail - later full ROM upgrade will be required to get it and some carriers/distributors may neglect it). Instead of celebrating victory Microsoft employees should work harder!

Here is the list of video interviews made by Mike Hall the podcasting fanboy and links to some other multimedia materials about Palm Treo for Windows Mobile:

Other related links: Conclusions: this is indeed big victory for Microsoft - after 2 years of secret cooperation to be able to convince Palm to release Windows Mobile! After all this means that Palm is risking losing many existing customers who were buying Palm smartphones just to have something "non-Microsoft". We should however not forget that this Treo is only for CDMA EVDO for USA and that Palm Treo for Windows Mobile for GSM/GPRS or UMTS doesn't exist yet and we will have to wait till August 2006 to see such Treo. Therefore Microsoft should now concentrate on proper roll-out of push e-mail because somebody has done something wrong in Microsoft: Windows Mobile 5.0 devices without push e-mail are shipping now and again customers will be angry, once new wave of Windows Mobile 5.0 devices with push e-mail built-in will be shipping but they will not be able to use it due to lack of upgrades. Microsoft should be also very careful not to upset other license takers such Motorola and Samsung. While Palm is very important in American market, Palm's market share in global market of smartphones is tiny after all.
