Windows Mobile Treo prototypes on the loose October 13, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Before Palm officially announced Windows Mobile Treo at the press conference with Microsoft and Verizon Wireless (a mobile operator from USA), some people had prototype of such Treo already ... and now these prototypes are circling again. According to our sources Peter Rojas from Engadget got the prototype of Windows Mobile Treo by buying it from somebody for several thousand US dollars. That's why Engadget was able to publish photos of Windows Mobile Treo (that they called "Treo 700w") before Palm even announced this phone. Although Peter Rojas declined this claim, saying that he didn't purchase this Treo, he didn't exclude possibility that his source purchased it for several thousands USD! The fact is that certain person was offering this Treo prototype to several webmasters in USA... Lately somebody tried to sell Windows Mobile Treo prototype for $2499 here but eBay stuff has removed this auction!!! Although we are not sure how legal publishing information about such prototypes is - after all such prototypes may be stolen or obtained illegally, however please note, that such "early prototypes floating on eBay and at websites" phenomena is nothing new - after all already early iPAQ phones (before HP took over Compaq) were available on eBay. Therefore we are not sure why eBay was forced to pull auction/sale of this Windows Mobile Treo...
