October 18, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.

It is widely known that while in consumer market Symbian is still leading, in enterprise market Windows Mobile is both superior and the leader. By now the best rugged handhelds powered by Windows Mobile and destined for enterprise usage were made by Symbol company. Now, after complete fiasco of Motorola MPX Pocket PC phone and after moderate success of Motorola MPx200 and MPx220 smartphones, also Motorola is jumping on "Windows Mobile is the best for enterprises" bandwagon:

Motorola Announces First Commercial Off-the-Shelf Mobile Computing Solution for the Enterprise HC700-L delivers an integrated mobile computing solution to enhance worker productivity across a multitude of industry applications

Motorola, Inc. announces its entry into the commercial off-the-shelf rugged handheld mobile computing market with the HC700-L. The first in a series, the HC700-L is designed to meet the rigorous demands of mobile workforces in a variety of industries including utility, transportation, logistics, public works, public services and manufacturing.

Part of Motorola’s new HC700 family of rugged mobile computers, the HC700-L handheld features Intel’s Xscale processor, a color touch-screen display, an omni-directional area imager for ID/2D barcode imaging, both WiFi and Bluetooth communications capabilities and it operates on the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform. The HC700-L is designed and tested to military environmental specifications to withstand the rigors of every day use.

The HC700-L is ideal for individual field users and work teams in need of mobile data applications such as remote data base inquiries, job ticketing and field service, sales force automation, asset management and inventory management. In early 2006, Motorola will introduce additional models in the HC700 line that will offer a wide array of communications options to provide enterprise customers with numerous choices for their mobile operator service.

“The Motorola HC700 family of handheld computing devices reflects Motorola’s commitment to serving the stringent needs of our enterprise customers for rugged, full featured mobile computing solutions,” said John DeFeo, corporate vice president of Product Operations for the Motorola Enterprise Group. “Providing mobile workers with secure, reliable and flexible access to business critical information and processes allows them to enhance customer satisfaction and improve productivity.”

After many years of providing purpose-built mobile computing solutions for customers such as FedEx, DHL and the United States Postal Service, Motorola is uniquely positioned to meet enterprise customer needs with commercial off-the-shelf products.

“With products like the HC700-L, we are leveraging decades of expertise to offer a broad portfolio of enterprise-class mobility solutions that seamlessly and securely link people, assets and critical business information and enable a truly mobile workforce,” said DeFeo.
