Xda Atom made by Quanta got FCC approval in USA October 19, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. It doesn't necessarily mean that Xda Atom will go on sale in USA - maybe it is only to enable trouble-free roaming in USA - but at least one thing has been finally confirmed: the Xda Atom:
... is made by Quanta, not HTC:
You can also notice that Xda Atom has some applications not available in HTC phones like "FM Radio", "SDDialer", "SelfDiag" and "O2 MediaPlus":
Since Xda Atom is smaller than HTC Magician and on top of that offers built-in FM Radio and built-in Wi-Fi, it may be a very popular unit, if only also other operators and distributors would pick it - not just O2 Asia... Regarding "lack of DAB radio" (digital radio standard popular in Europe): DAB is not popular in USA and Asia, so lack of DAB is not an issue, particularly because this Xda Atom by now was announced for sale only at O2 Asia mobile operator! Therefore complaining about Xda Atom lacking DAB radio is like complaining that cars destined for UK have driver seat on the right side.
