The cheapest HTC Wizard coming to the market: T-Mobile MDA Vario !!!
October 20, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.

Why would you like to buy HTC Wizard at Expansys for 640 Euro if you can get it for 459 Euro at T-Mobile? Cheap, cheaper, T-Mobile MDA Vario cheap! T-Mobile MDA Vario is just a regular HTC Wizard but branded by T-Mobile:

While T-Mobile MDA Vario Pocket PC phone still is not present at website of T-Mobile Germany, it is already on sale in Germany here for mere 459 Euro. Also in past T-Mobile MDA Compact (without subscription) was the cheapest HTC Magician on the market, so here with HTC Wizard and T-Mobile MDA Vario the situation repeats itself.

If you don't fancy German language version and instead you would prefer English version then you can buy T-Mobile MDA Vario at T-Mobile Netherlands! Actually there is already extensive information page about T-Mobile MDA Vario - directly at T-Mobile Netherlands website! T-Mobile MDA Vario is not available yet at the website of T-Mobile UK but it is only a question of time until it will arrive there too! Interestingly according to Peter Rojas from Engadget also T-Mobile USA will be getting this phone - HTC Wizard (although the name for American market may be different)!

Here are some highlights about T-Mobile MDA Vario Pocket PC phone:
  • HTC Wizard branded by T-Mobile
  • GPRS and Wi-Fi
  • slide out QWERTY keyboard (in Germany: QWERTZ layout)
  • OS: Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition
  • flash memory: 128 MB
  • RAM memory: 64 MB
  • quad-band GSM (good both for USA and Europe, and also for the rest of the world)
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • Bluetooth, USB, infrared
  • QVGA TFT display - 240x320 pixels, 64k colors
Please note: since T-Mobile has extensive network of Wi-Fi hotspots all over the world, then having this phone together with service subscription from T-Mobile may bring even more mobility.

This phone is a very good offering, particularly considering that it offers also fast Wi-Fi (802.11g, not only 802.11b), and the only disadvantages that this phone has are: relatively slow processor and keyboard not usable for single handed usage (one needs to use thumbs or finger of both hands to write comfortably with it).
