IDC study: The Benefits of Microsoft Mobile Messaging October 21, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. IDC have produced a paper describing the benefits of Microsoft Mobile messaging. The headlines were that companies implementing Microsoft Mobile based solutions:
Each of the firms studied for this Strategy Paper have deployed Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones in conjunction with Exchange ActiveSync in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. These firms include hospitals, retail establishments, a technology integrator, a service company, and an engineering and construction business. Their users include mobile professionals, such as executives, sales, doctors, and field service, whose mobility ranged from time on the road, to working full time in the field to mobile within a set location – but all benefit from the ability to send and receive information sooner rather than later. To read the study click here (a webpage at Microsoft's website) or here (in PDF form). This study reminds us of the former studies that were proving that mobile operators can get higher ARPU only if they use Windows Mobile phones and that with Symbian phones one cannot achieve such high ARPU! ARPU (Average Revenue Per Unit) is a very important indicator that all mobile operators try to increase - that's why it is so much appealing to mobile operators. However instead of producing more and more studies that prove superiority of Windows Mobile with regard to competition and that cater for mobile operators and enterprise customers, maybe Microsoft should try harder to cater for end users too?
