Samsung dumps MS Smartphone - part 2
March 15, 2003 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1.

Previously we were reporting here, that Samsung has dumped its cell phone powered by MS Smartphone 2002 software. Today we have got explicit confirmation from Samsung people, that the only phone made by Samsung and powered by Microsoft software will run Pocket PC Phone Edition, and NOT MS Smartphone 2002. This information has been also confirmed by our other sources.

Samsung uses term īMITsī to denote phones running open operating system. MITs = Mobile Intelligent Terminal by Samsung. Samsung has 3 categories of MITs: Symbian OS (UI: Series 60), Pocket PC OS, and Palm OS.

UPDATE: it looks like Samsung will release MS Smartphone cell phone after all, but it will be a model for CDMA networks (see here for more information), still no GSM model in plans. CDMA is a system popular mostly in USA and Korea, while rest of the world uses GSM...
