WARNING: Handango sells stolen software October 26, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. We have been reporting about Handango's nasty industrial practices many times already, but here it comes again: somebody has ripped off a program that is bundled with some Pocket PCs, placed it in a ZIP file, and is selling it on Handango with support e-mail address, that is pointing to an e-mail account at free e-mail service! Moreover even the original manufacturer of this program is clearly stating that it is not selling this program in a standalone version at all, but only as a bundle with Pocket PC devices: Thank you for your recent support inquiry regarding Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI) Nevo software. Please be advised that the Nevo software is currently only sold as a bundled product with certain HP iPaq devices and is not available for download as a standalone software package. If you acquired a standalone copy of the Nevo software through either online download or purchase of a CD containing the software it is not authorized for use or eligible for support from UEI. Please contact the store from which you purchased any unauthorized copies of the Nevo software for further information. Thank you, UEI Support Universal Electronics Inc. Conclusion: Handango is not only exploiting developers by taking away 50% and more money for each software sale, but it also is facilitating illegal practicies like selling of stolen software (this story) or selling of stolen themes.
