HP sells directly online the HP iPAQ hw6500 Mobile Messenger Pocket PC phone devices

The hw6700 series (with built-in Wi-Fi and with contemporary OS = Windows Mobile 5.0) is coming in January 2006 according to latest rumors, but HP struggles to sell hw6500 series phones still...
The hw6500 series was on sale outside of USA for several months already and strangely HP (after all an American company!) introduced it to American market very lately - for Cingular subscribers. Here is the second phase of introduction of hw6500 to American market:
this phone is available now directly at the website of HP USA here. It still looks like it is with Cingular branding (Cingular = mobile operator in USA) and with settings for Cingular, but the pricing ($599 for camera-less model and $649 for a model with camera) indicates that this is a phone without Cingular service and without SIM lock - so you can buy it and use it with other GSM network, for example with T-Mobile USA.
Unfortunately HP hw6500 series ( hw6515 and hw6510 ) is not powered by the latest OS - Windows Mobile 5.0 - and HP stubbornly declines releasing of any upgrade, so our conclusion is crystal clear: don't buy it!
