Microsoft announces momentum on its Pocket PC and Smartphone Software March 17, 2003 [General] | By anonymous 1. At the CTIA Wireless show in New Orleans (March 17 - 19, 2003 New Orleans, LA USA), Microsoft will announce exciting proof points of the popularity and momentum of its Pocket PC and Smartphone software. On the software front, Research in Motion will announce that it will enable always-on BlackBerry connectivity for mobile devices based on the Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC and Smartphone platforms. On the hardware side, Microsoft will take a step closer to CDMA market availability when Sprint announces its plans to make 2 Pocket PC phones available to subscribers in the first half of this year. This year the US Mobility Developer Conference co-located with CTIA, where Bill Gates will keynote on Wednesday. He will underscore the opportunity for developers in this emerging market and is expected to make several announcements.
