Google Local works fine also in Windows Mobile mobile phones November 17, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. If you are living in USA or UK (other countries are not covered yet) you can download Google Local to your Windows Mobile phone and enjoy benefits of this service, that lets you find local hangouts and businesses across town or across the country — right from your phone. We explain how to do it: Since most (if not all) Windows Mobile phones have "midlet manager" or in other words wireless Java virtual machine, one can download midlet with Google Local and start benefiting from it immediately. It's available for other phones, too, but it's a Java MIDLet you can download to your phone. Google has sort of tailored this for US carriers, but if you have a Smartphone (or Pocket PC phone), you can say that your carrier is Cingular and that your phone is the Audiovox SMT5600. It has been tested and works also with HTC Wizard! To get Google Local for your Windows Mobile phone click here and do selections as depicted above! Conclusion: Windows Mobile phones are not only about Microsoft technologies but most of them support also Java so users can fully enjoy such superb services as Google Local. Credit: TrippinBilly.
