Vodafone UK launches its own brand push email - with explicit support for Windows Mobile November 28, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. New service from Vodafone supports both BlackBerry and Windows Mobile based email push. Symbian devices clearly are handicapped because although they can run RIM BlackBerry client (as Windows Mobile phones), they cannot utilize (cheaper and better than BlackBerry) push email provided by MS Exchange. Only Windows Mobile 5.0 phones can do it... Users of Windows Mobile phones will be offered fixed tariff comparable to BlackBerry! Vodafone UK will make Blackberry Connect and Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices and email service available in the near future. [...] Windows Mobile-based devices and email service Completing the offering is the Microsoft Windows Mobile service using scheduled ActiveSync, designed for companies that use Microsoft Exchange 2003. By upgrading to Microsoft Windows Mobile Smartphones companies can ensure that end users have access to their familiar Windows environment including Outlook, or if using a Windows Mobile-based PDA, Word Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile and Excel Mobile as well. Attachments on a Windows Mobile-based PDA can be viewed in colour, edited and resent with ease. Additional Windows Mobile-based services, like direct push technology, which pushes Outlook information quickly and directly to a mobile device, will be available early 2006.
