Mio Technology Becomes First To Introduce GPS PDA Phone With Built-In Maps Of China And Taiwan

Mio A700 features numerous world-firsts in handheld-based GPS navigation

Mio Technology on November 29 launched its Mio A700 GPS PDA phone at Taipei 101, the world¡¦s tallest building. Taipei 101 proved a fitting venue for the launch, as the Mio A700 can itself claim several world-firsts. The world¡¦s first GPS PDA phone to integrate maps of both China and Taiwan, as well as leisure information, SMS location Service, Location Call, and a positioning wizard. In addition to its uniquely intuitive interface for taking advantage of GPS-based navigation services, the Mio A700 is also a full-featured mobile phone packed with useful travel information and a personal safety feature that is perfect for business travelers who spend time on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The Mio A700 is currently available for sale in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong only.

Complete maps of both China and Taiwan

The Mio A700 is a GPS PDA phone that can support digital maps for the entire world. Besides its built-in navigation features, it includes China and Taiwan maps with complete map data for nearly 200 cities. The maps incorporate more than 1,300,000 data entries for commonly used facilities such as banks, shopping centers, gas stations, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, and recreation sites. In addition, Mio Technology has thoughtfully added iGOGO¡¦s China travel information with its more than 9,000 entries, ensuring that a Mio A700 user will never be at loss as to where to go¡Xand never need fear getting lost on the way.

The Mio A700¡¦s integrated maps of Taiwan include the most up-to-date driver maps that enable users to take advantage of route planning, spotlighting of speed cameras, and speed limit warnings¡Xsparing them from traffic fines resulting from unfamiliarity with local traffic regulations. The Mio Map feature also provides Text-to-speech function. At the same time, Mio Map includes a searchable database of 400,000 addresses and more than 60,000 pieces of lifestyle information covering all of Taiwan. The Mio A700 exclusively offers an updated version of the iGOGO travel guide, making it easy for users to navigate the island. And the Mio A700¡¦s phone functionality allows users to conduct phone calls while using its navigation features, so there¡¦s no need to fret about either missing a call or losing one¡¦s way.

SMS Location Service

The second of the Mio A700¡¦s world-firsts is its Mio SMS Location Service feature. This feature allows the user to append his current location automatically to any SMS text message. A message recipient with a Mio A700 will then be able to immediately pinpoint the sender¡¦s location on her A700¡¦s map¡Xand then take advantage of the A700¡¦s route planning and real-time navigation features to get to where the sender is located. Mio SMS Location is perfect for arranging appointments with friends, eliminating the need to specify an exact location in advance, and for giving loved ones peace of mind by letting them know where one is.

Location Call

The Mio A700¡¦s third world-first is Location Call, which allows the user to broadcast his current location to a predefined group of recipients. Not only can location call ease the anxieties about personal safety when traveling in an unfamiliar area, but it¡¦s a must-have for those on a mountain trek or off-road driving adventure.

Mio positioning wizard

The Mio A700 also eliminates concerns that using a mobile phone will result in slow positioning performance. Mio¡¦s new device not only includes a high-sensitivity embedded antenna, but also provides the Mio positioning wizard, which assists the user in obtaining Mio-supplied satellite signal data by linking to a computer or using GPRS to get online, ensuring that the user can take advantage of the speediest positioning services when on the road.

Intuitive navigation interface

The Mio A700¡¦s GPS-based services are accessible through an intuitive interface designed by Mio to accommodate how people actually use navigation features in the real world. The result is a humanized, easy to learn, and simple to operate interface for viewing and using 2D and 3D maps.

Communications, business applications, and entertainment features

The Mio A700 is not only an incredibly powerful navigation tool that can help users find their way wherever they find themselves in China and Taiwan, but it also allows users to receive phone calls and converse while accessing navigation features. The Mio A700¡¦s business-oriented features include the ability view and edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents, as well as e-mail, and also the ability to create text messages and documents using an on-screen keyboard. The Mio A700¡¦s built-in 1.3-megapixel camera and extra-large storage capacity lets users take and store up to 5,500 photos right on the handheld. And despite its wealth of features, the Mio A700¡¦s battery provides 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours on standby when using its phone functions, and 12 hours of listening pleasure when taking advantage of its music playback capabilities. The Mio A700 is truly a handheld that can do it all.

Smart looks and powerful features for the business user

The Mio A700 is available in silvery black and platinum white models that boast elegantly flowing contours. The stylish looks provide a pleasing visual complement to the veritable personal business center that lies within, with its rich array of practical features that make it a perfect fit for the busy mobile business professional.
