Pocket Informant 2005 Revision 4 released - unfortunately still no version for MS Smartphone
December 05, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.

Pocket Informant 2005 Revision 4 brings extended Windows Mobile 5.0 compatibility and more features. It's nice to see that software vendors use opportunity resulting from release of Windows Mobile 5.0 not just to recompile the old code for new OS, but also to add new features...

If Pocket Outlook is not powerful enough for you, you may be interested in this program.

Revision 4 is a free upgrade to all Pocket Informant 2005 owners and may be an interesting proposition for Windows Mobile 5.0 users.

Some of the biggest improvements are:
  • Custom Views can now have shortcuts assigned to them for super customizability access from any application
  • Improved the new contacts editor that was introduced with Rev 3 with more customizability and easier use
  • Many new options and commands for increased productivity
  • And for Windows Mobile 5 specifically we added back the Attach Icon feature, added customized Left Soft Key options, and MANY major improvements
While Revision 4 is not a major upgrade from Rev 3, it finalizes Windows Mobile 5 support and provides many improvements throughout the application that all PI users should enjoy.

Commentary: users must be very careful these days because software vendors try to sell versions for Windows Mobile 5.0 as a wholly new products despite the fact that feature set of given program is not changing at all. It is also crucial to purchase versions of software explicitly supporting Windows Mobile 5.0 instead of waiting for compatibility problems that could occur in most inconvenient moment...
