Mobius 2005 USA coverage: HTC Prophet sighted in Seattle December 08, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Release of HTC Prophet must be near because not only it is available in Asia from Dopod but also it has been presented during Mobius 2005 USA invite-only conference. here we go with a couple of photos I made today from the earlier (officially) announced HTC Prophet (aka Dopod 818 Pro). The version I had the chance to play with was the black one which has a nice "soft touch" feeling and it's as small as the HTC Magician and even slightly smaller then the Eten M600 I've used as the reference for the photos To read more and view photos click here. Conclusion: while HTC Prophet is a nice phone with EDGE and fast Wi-Fi (802.11g) it has indeed a slow processor - 200 MHz from Texas Instruments (TI). It may well be a good replacement for HTC Magician for people who don't like slide out keyboard (like it is is in HTC Wizard) - considering that only HTC has big power enough to push their products through to mobile operators. It looks like excellent O2 Xda Atom (the one that not only has Wi-Fi but is smaller than HTC Magician and features built-in FM radio) will be limited to Asia or as greatly overpriced imported product in online shops in USA and Europe. Anyway people not satisfied with low speed of HTC Prophet can always go for ETEN M600 that has super fast processor from Samsung!
