Yet another reason to switch to Windows Mobile Treo 700w : better camera
December 15, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
Here comes a detailed camera comparison between Treo 700w running Windows Mobile and existing Treo 650 powered by Palm OS. Since several developers and editors already have Treo 700w, first more detailed reports are appearing. While Treo 650 was known from having decent quality camera, the Treo 700w is even better and since both are made by HTC it makes us wonder: why HTC has to put very low quality cameras in their own phones (those branded by mobile operators and distributors)? Cost saving? Lack of understanding that competition uses big brand lenses with auto-focus? Read on!
To my delight I discovered that the Treo 700w has a 1.31 mega-pixel camera providing images at a 1280x1024 resolution compared to the 0.3 mega-pixel at 640x480 resolution currently on our Treo 650. I recognize that it may be unfair to compare these two models but it will have to do until I can get my hands on a Treo 700p running PalmOS which should in theory sport exactly the same camera as the Treo 700w
