(yet another) review of Orange SPV C600 - latest MS Smartphone from Orange UK December 17, 2005 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Lack of EDGE in mobile network of Orange UK is a real bummer, because several new models of Windows Mobile offer EDGE capability that can't be taken advantage of - if you are in UK! Interestingly Orange is active in several countries in Europe and UK is exception - only in UK there is no EDGE... One of these new fancy Windows Mobile phones with EDGE is Orange SPV C600 - a European version of Cingular 2125 smartphone. Here comes yet another interesting review of Orange SPV C600: Another missing feature is 3G connectivity; I’d have loved to have put my new 3G SIM to the test however the C600 was never going to be a video calling device so I guess we’ll still have to wait for a 3G Smartphone. To clarify, a 3G SIM does work in the C600 however it doesn’t work at 3G speeds [...] Orange SPV C600 is an evolutionary device that takes another step towards the perfect Windows Mobile Smartphone, in my opinion all that is lacking is the inclusion of WiFi and 3G connectivity, were these two things present this phone would be wining awards left right and centre. As it is the SPV C600 is a pretty great phone As you can see above, author of the review is overly positive about this phone: while in USA there is no UMTS yet and lack of UMTS support may be excused (because EDGE is there very widespread), in UK the UMTS (branded there as "3G") is the top priority and interest of mobile operators (who invested billions over billions in UMTS networks) is very big in UMTS phones. Therefore calling the phone "a pretty great phone" in this context, may be strange... To read the review, including several screen shots and photos, click here. Credit: Marc Pell.
