Microsoft is shipping the first phone with push e-mail !!! The revolution started. December 20, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Visto suing Microsoft and asking Microsoft to stop delivery of push email technology because it allegedly violates Visto's patents? Microsoft couldn't care less: the first Pocket PC phone with AKU (Adaptation Kit Upgrade) 2.0 - is now on sale in Taiwan and it includes not just stereo audio over Bluetooth but also push e-mail functionality! It is 2-3 months ahead of schedule! We reported previously that Gigabyte g-smart Pocket PC phone:
... has been launched officially but now we have learned more: - Gigabyte g-smart is on sale in Taiwan - Microsoft Taiwan has published web page with information about this Pocket PC phone, that contains information that it ships with push e-mail! - employee of Microsoft UK confirms that Gigabyte g-smart phone has indeed push e-mail Conclusion: it looks like Microsoft is not scared of Visto and their lawsuit. The first phone with push e-mail and stereo audio over Bluetooth is shipping and by the way: it has also built-in TV tuner and FM radio. The only problem is: where one can buy this phone in USA and Europe? Where? Nowhere as of now! We must wait. One is for sure: Gigabyte g-smart is one of the most fascinating Windows Mobile phones ever. HTC? Who needs HTC if there are such stunning phones like above mentioned Gigabyte g-smart and like ETEN M600!? While HTC still dominates market of Windows Mobile phones, insistence of HTC on usage of sloppy processors in latest mini Pocket PC phones (like HTC Prophet and HTC Wizard) is putting people off.
