Influential tech journalist from WSJ slashes Treo 700w ... and he is right! + no AKU 2.0 in 700w ! January 06, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Walter Mossberg from Wall Street Journal (WSJ) is a very influential journalist in USA and elsewhere: he even was serving as a chairman of sessions at 3GSM (the biggest conference in the world about mobile phones only).
(on image above: Walt Mossberg to the right, looks disrespectfully at Pieter Knook - the main boss of Windows Mobile and Embedded division) The uncritical fanboys of Microsoft - MVPs - will not tell you that, but the fact is: this time Walt Mossberg is right! Read on! In his review Mossberg underlines:
Despite extending Windows Mobile OS with its own features, Palm still failed to equalize with Treo 650 (Palm OS)! Clearly Windows Mobile platform needs more improvements and it would be unwise for Microsoft to postpone them to Windows Mobile 2006 (code name "Photon") ... Please note: as Microsoft UK employee explains the Treo 700w is shipping now without AKU 2.0, what practically means: no push e-mail (yet) and no stereo audio over Bluetooth. While still possibility exists that Microsoft and hardware vendors will delay release of push e-mail it may also affect support for stereo audio over Bluetooth: in other words: users of Treo 700w may get AKU 2.0 and both these features with a very big delay, if ever.
