GPS car navigation from German company NAVIGON comes to USA January 08, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. Apart from their own navigation device (PNA), NAVIGON offers also GPS car navigation software for Pocket PC and MS Smartphone. Now NAVIGON brings TMC and fuzzy street search also to USA! TMC is an interesting technology used in Europe to deliver - through FM radio - signals information about traffic jams and closed streets to enabled more efficient navigation. With TMC-enabled GPS receiver, Windows Mobile device and NAVIGON software there is no need to fetch traffic information from Internet! Read on! Information from NAVIGON follows. * * * * * Consumers Avoid Traffic with NAVIGON's MobileNavigator|5 NAVIGON announced a time saving, cost-saving GPS navigation solution for busy Americans. MobileNavigator enables precise door to door navigation anywhere in the country whether by car, bike or on foot. The new MobileNavigator|5 (MN|5) offers many features including real time traffic information TMC, speed limit warning and turn-by-turn voice guidance. Unlike other GPS software, MN|5 allows the user to drive cross country from Boston to San Francisco without ever having to stop and change a map. MN|5 now offers real time traffic updates through NAVIGON's Traffic Service. The RDS-TMC enabled technology covers major metropolitan areas in the United States. A feature that displays nearby points of interests such as ATMs, restaurants, hotels and mechanics within a for example one mile radius from the current position. There is no need to waste precious time and expensive gas searching for places to eat or to sleep. MN|5 also displays real highway overhead signs and street signs as they appear on the road. Speed limits and speed limit alerts are also included to acoustically and visually warn the driver on exceeding a speed limit.
