BenQ P50 is on sale - too little too late January 17, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. BenQ P50 Pocket PC phone for the first time was announced at CeBIT 2004 (March 2004), but now, almost 2 years after that announcement it is already too outdated (Windows Mobile 2003 powered, not Windows Mobile 5.0) to be of interest to anybody...
The new flagship range of smartphones from BenQ offers capabilities beyond those of most competitors. As well as the above, the P50 includes a complete thumb-board, to facilitate easy data entry into the phone. With the P50 running the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system, you can expect all the usual applications - Office Suite and Internet Explorer, amongst others. With all these features, and powered by the advanced Intel Bulverde processor, the BenQ P50 is worthy of a second look To learn more click here (it is available in UK, USA, and several other countries where this retailer operates). Conclusion: BenQ P50 would be great phone 1 year ago, but now it is too little too late. Lack of Windows Mobile 5.0 and lack of UMTS, EDGE and 802.11g - makes it not a particularly interesting proposition anymore. One is for sure: BenQ, after takeover of Siemens Mobile, has dumped Symbian, and we can only hope that BenQ P50 will not be the last Windows Mobile phone from BenQ. However if BenQ will have similar time-to-market with other phones as it was with P50, then users are better advised to select other Windows Mobile phones instead...
