Microsoft ignores and laughs out lawsuit from Visto January 19, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. ROM upgrade to Windows Mobile 5.0 with push e-mail is on track - says Microsoft. No delays. Everything is on track and fine and well. Lawsuit from Visto? Microsoft couldn't care less about Visto.
And if Microsoft can improve upon mobile PIM synchronization, I'll be the first to subscribe, but they can't expect to infringe upon issued patents without attracting lawsuits. ... says Visto founder on his blog. So despite the fact that actually no Windows Mobile 5.0 device with push e-mail from Microsoft is on sale, Microsoft employee proudly announces that there are no delays with push e-mail caused by the lawsuit from Visto against Microsoft: email generated mainly by some sites claiming that there are delays in our Push Email solution. This is total nonsense - there are no delays. Other manufacturers are working on releasing updates and new devices containing AKU 2.0 and they will be available shortly. The dates when they are available are defined by the OEMs and are dependant on integration and network testing efforts. For those of you not familiar with Windows Mobile business model - unlike Windows Desktop. We have an OEM business model. We create the underlying operating system and then device manufacturers integrate their drivers and then test it on Mobile Operator networks. Typically when we provide updates to our mobile platform in can take anywhere between 3-6 months for devices to appear on the market once the network testing and integration has been performed. * * * * * The moral of this story is simple: if release of some phone is being delayed (like it is with Motorola Q that was supposed to be released in December 2005) or if ROM upgrades with push e-mail are being delayed - then it's all not fault of Microsoft, that already released all that software to its partners. The fault lies exclusively at Microsoft partners, not at Microsoft.
