T-Mobile brings at last also to USA the MDA and SDA series of Windows Mobile phones ! January 20, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. The T-Mobile MDA Pocket PC phones and T-Mobile SDA Microsoft smartphones are well known at T-Mobile in Europe, but by now T-Mobile USA was not offering them. In February 2006 it will change and they will come to USA as "T-Mobile MDA Handheld" (aka "sloppy processor with slide-out keyboard") and "T-Mobile SDA Smartphone" (aka "hump phone with music buttons") - both equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and EDGE support:
T-Mobile MDA Handheld The new T-Mobile MDA is a messaging powerhouse, with a full keyboard that slides in the sleek device. It offers messaging options from simple text and instant messaging to powerful picture and video messaging. Plus the T-Mobile MDA is designed to take advantage of the T-Mobile Total Internet network with GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and the extra speed you need at thousands of T-Mobile HotSpot WiFi locations. T-Mobile SDA Smartphone The T-Mobile SDA is a super sleek smartphone that makes it easy to stay connected and organized. With the familiar features of Microsoft Outlook, you can keep your calendar, contacts, and e-mail always up to date and with you on the go... without the bulkiness of a standard PDA. Conclusion: the fact that T-Mobile will offer MDA and SDA phones also in USA is a very good news and although they are not so fancy as Treo 700w available from Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile however offers also access to many Wi-Fi hotspots and cost effective flat rate mobile Internet access over EDGE. Unfortunately both these phones have too slow processors to handle Skype voice calls so the built-in Wi-Fi can't be used for Skype-ing, but for such applications as wireless Internet browsing, instant messaging and podcast or music downloads - these phones are perfect.
