Moto Q cancelled or not? January 21, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. We were reporting lately that Motorola Q smartphone had been cancelled, so let's take a second look at this "cancellation situation", and let's see what Jason Gordon from Motorola:
... has to say about it: Q is a family of products and although the first Q will be based on CDMA/EVDO, there will be other members of the family that are based on other air interfaces. ... or in other words "Q smartphone is not cancelled and apart from CDMA-EVDO version of Q, there will be several other products from Q family". On the other hand Motorola Q at Expansys was discontinued and cancelled: e-mail was sent to people who pre-ordered Motorola Q that it is cancelled and the page with Motorola Q has been deactivated as you can see here. Conclusions: original rumor about Motorola Q cancellation originated from a French website that claimed that Motorola France said that Moto Q is cancelled. However obviously above mentioned Jason Gordon has more authority - being from Motorola USA (headquarters) - and it appears that French rumor about cancellation is not correct. Anyway: Motorola Q smartphone is not available yet and some operator deals or release dates probably will be announced either in February 2006 at 3GSM or in April 2006 at CTIA - everybody was expecting, that release of Motorola Q would take place at the beginning of January 2006 during CES - but it didn't happen...
