Stereo audio over Bluetooth (A2DP) available NOW for Windows Mobile 5.0 - if you own E-TEN M600 Pocket PC phone January 27, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. As you can notice in title bar in the following screen shot:
... the stereo audio over Bluetooth (A2DP) is available already NOW for owners of E-TEN M600, who upgraded to version of ROM "0171":
The only official (that we can publish) place where you can get 0171 ROM image is here, or here, but we reckon that soon more download places for this ROM will be available (watch this space - we will update this news item). To be 100% certain that in fact it is stereo audio over Bluetooth compatibility, we have paired Bluetooth stereo headset and then we played special audio of Paul McKenna where one can hear in separate channels text "if you're listening in stereo, these words should be coming from the right hand side"... "and these from the left"... and it worked perfectly! Conclusion: the reality is that Windows Mobile phones are judged not only by the design and style, but also by the frequency and reliabiltiy of ROM upgrades with bug fixes and new features. It looks like E-TEN is on the forefront in this area, and as the first Windows Mobile manufacturer, has released Windows Mobile 5.0 ROM upgrade that contains stereo audio over Bluetooth (A2DP)! Clearly we will have to wait yet for "push email update for Windows Mobile 5.0" (i.e. MSFP = Microsoft Messaging & Security Feature Pack) but if you are not user of MS Exchange (or network administrator cannot be convinced to install server side of this push e-mail update, and open it to users), then stereo audio over Bluetooth may be enough for you... While officially both MSFP and A2DP are bundled together in AKU 2.0 (Adaptation Kit Upgrade) that is still being tested by many Windows Mobile distributors/manufacturers, it looks like some manufacturers are able to pick just A2DP without waiting for MSFP...
