Do not settle for less than 802.11g : SDW-821 - SDIO WLAN 11g card coming soon January 30, 2006 [Wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...)] | By Edward J. R. After fast Wi-Fi (i.e. 802.11g) becoming a standard when it comes to Pocket PC phones with built-in Wi-Fi, now also SD Wi-Fi cards with 802.11b -only are becoming outdated... Here comes a SDIO Wi-Fi card with 802.11g from Spectec (drivers for Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 already available):
It has very broad set of features: Network Standard Support: IEEE 802.11b/g Modulation Techniques: BPSK, QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM, CCK, OFDM, DSSS Data Rates 802.11g: 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, 54 Mbps 802.11b: 1, 2, 5.5, 11 Mbps To learn more click here. Apparently this SDIO Wi-Fi card not only supports 802.11g standard but also allows for high transmission rates up to 54 Mbps - contrary to some built-in Wi-Fi with 802.11g support that although support 802.11g standard are not supporting all transmission rates up to maximum (i.e. 54 Mbps). Please note: this Wi-Fi card is not on sale yet, but it will be available commercially soon, so if you were planning to purchase SDIO Wi-Fi card with 802.11b only, you should rethink and maybe wait a bit to get SDW-821 to have also 802.11g support!
