Upcoming HP Pocket PC phone made by Quanta has nothing to do with Xda Atom! February 18, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Apparently HP and Quanta are working on wholly new phone... what denies former rumors that HP will just rebrand Xda Atom! * * * * * John Cheong from O2 Asia Pacific writes to us: we'd like to make a quick clarification: The review mentioned that HP will be selling a re-branded version of the Xda Atom. This is not accurate. While HP may be working with Quanta on launching a new device, it has nothing to do with the Xda Atom. O2's customer promise is to bring beautiful, technologically innovative and relevant products to market, and the Xda Atom is the result of our commitment to that promise. We designed and developed the product from scratch - from its ID and finishing to the overall navigation and integration of (many O2-exclusive) applications. The product and its entire out-of-box experience are what set the Xda Atom apart from its competition. We don't offer "me-too" devices, and this is - and remains - our commitment to O2 customers. Please note: to avoid confusions, it is worth mentioning that O2 Asia Pacific (that operates in East Asia and Australia) is not the same company as O2 Europe (that operates in UK, Ireland and Germany and that lately has been purchased by a Spanish operator Telefonica)! Therefore customers of O2 Europe will probably never get O2 Xda Atom.
