CeBIT 2006 coverage: rather modest and local presence of Microsoft
February 21, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R.
Microsoft is treating CeBIT rather as a local German event and mostly just local employees of Microsoft Germany will be present. Generally main topic for Microsoft will be of course Windows Vista - the successor to Windows XP. Let's take a look at what Microsoft will offer in the area of Windows Mobile at CeBIT 2006:
- a 20 minute long presentation in English language: "Direct E-Mail Push and further more: Smartphones with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0", that will take place at Microsoft stand in the "theatre" part - several times a day (exact schedules one can find here)
- Microsoft will have many stands in various halls at CeBIT 2006 and usual "2 tables with Windows Mobile devices" will be also present, and also some Microsoft partners with some mobile solutions - in Hall 4 at stand A38. In other words: 2 tables with Windows Mobile devices plus a couple of tables with mobile solutions based on Microsoft technologies.

Conclusion: clearly Microsoft treats CeBIT just as a local German event, although the fact that some presentations will be in English is a positive thing. All in all one cannot expect anything special from Microsoft at CeBIT 2006 - the most interesting presentations and announcements about Windows Mobile at CeBIT 2006 will be coming from hardware manufacturers and mobile operators...
