A company from Switzerland announces 2 new Windows Mobile phones for GSM February 28, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. Unrealistic prices, no exact release dates, distributors unknown - so pretty much yet in vaporware (or buzz?) phase - but it's nice to see new models of Windows Mobile phones from time to time: one is a Microsoft smartphone:
... and another is a Pocket PC phone with cellphone keypad:
While both these phones offer built-in Wi-Fi, and seem to be quite small, they lack however UMTS and explicity support for 802.11g (fast Wi-Fi). In other words: another phones that promise a lot and deliver nothing (yet). Obviously the promise of "seemless raoming between GSM and Wi-Fi" is nice but it must be yet tested in practice and probably requires deals with individual mobile operators - what may be tricky. Apart from missing UMTS support, the 1.3 megapixel in camera is also not up to date - these days 2 megapixel is a minimum resolution in all new contemporary phones. To learn more click here.
