CeBIT 2006 coverage : Mobile Planner available for download now - also for Pocket PC
March 01, 2006 [Pocket PC] | By Edward J. R.

Last week this planner was not ready yet, but now it is already available, also for Pocket PC:

The planner contains information about companies, lectures and about CeBIT itself:

One can search for companies (and find their location on the map too):

Also the overall map of CeBIT 2006 is included:

... and maps of each hall with individual booths:

... and companies exhibiting at each booth:

One can browse companies through categories of products and services that they offer:

One can also create custom made "tours", that contain lists of companies that you plan to visit:

Interestingly one can also make notes near each company, so you can prepare yourself very well for the visit in advance and you can for example list everything that you want to see at given company:

Short description of the planner:

Mobile Fair Planner
Electronic Catalogue for PDA,Smartphone, Mobile Phone and Blackberry

The Mobile Fair Planner is the CeBIT 2006 electronic catalogue for your mobile device. All data about companies and events, hall and site plans as well as general information on CeBIT are available. The search function will help you to find the desired exhibitors.

The Fair Planner can now be downloaded on devices with Palm OS 3.3 or Windows CE 3.0./Pocket PC (or higher). Moreover this year we also offer a version for Mobile Phones(Java) and Blackberry.

The Mobile Fair Planner for Symbian OS-based Smartphones will be available within the next days.

The following options are available:
  • Search for exhibitors and product categories
  • Search for events
  • Creating own lists
Currently this planner is available for the following platforms:
  • PDA/Smartphone running on PALM OS (version 3.3. or higher)
  • PDA/Smartphone running on WinCE/Pocket PC OS (version 3.0 or higher)
  • Java enabled mobile phone (Java MIDlets according to the MIDP-1.0 CLDC-1.0 specification)
  • Blackberry
... but not for Symbian phones yet (to be available in a couple of days) and not for MS Smartphone (it will not be available this year again - apparently CeBIT organizers don't consider this platform as important).

The functionality that is missing in the planner (but could be added):
  • location of restaurants and toilets
  • GPS support
  • route planning (from one stand in one hall to another stand in another hall)
To get this planner you need to go the website of CeBIT, register there (for free) and only after being registered you can click on the left side menu on the "Mobile Planner" link.
