CeBIT 2006 coverage: AVerMedia to present AVerTV DVB-H SDIO Card E570 March 06, 2006 [Pocket PC] | By Edward J. R. One of the reasons why Windows Mobile phones are superior to Symbian is the fact that many of them have SDIO card slot: either full size SD, for which most SDIO accessories are available or mini-SD for which only few are available (like mini-SD Wi-Fi cards). Symbian phones can use their memory card slots only for memory cards but Windows Mobile phones also for input/output accessories. At CeBIT 2006 well known company specialized in multimedia products for PC and Mac - AVerMedia - will be showing SDIO card that supports DVB-H (like DVB-T but designed especially for handhelds):
Inspire Visions of TV in Your Pocket AVerMedia presents you the advanced DVB-H TV Tuner solution, E570, for mobile handheld devices to facilitate your digital entertainment. E570 is a high performance handheld DVB-H card, which adopts DiBcom demodulator and supports either L band or UHF. With SDIO interface, consumers in North America or Europe can insert the E570 into PDAs to watch the live Digital TV programs while on the move. Original source of this story is here - a web page of AVerMedia for CeBIT 2006. AVerMedia will be present at CeBIT in Hall 23, at stand A37. Conclusion: if your Windows Mobile phone has full size SD card slot, then you don't need to buy special device for DVB-H - the regular Windows Mobile phone will suffice! Once again it becomes apparent that Windows Mobile phones are superior to Symbian phones, where one needs to buy special rather bulky model to get DVB-H while in case of Windows Mobile purchasing of a card suffices. It is important to know of such possibilities like this DVB-H SDIO card - also in case you are taking buying decisions regarding your future (i.e. next) Windows Mobile phone! If you buy a phone with SDIO card slot, rather than mini-SD or (lately popular) micro-SD, then obviously you have much more possibilities, including ability to turn your Windows Mobile phone into mobile TV! Please note: while DVB-T (T = Terrestrial) already has been rolled out in many European countries, the DVB-H still is in early testing stage - so before buying this card, you must check whether DVB-H is already broadcasting in your area!
