CeBIT 2006: getting ready for Microsoft press conference March 08, 2006 [General] | By Edward J. R. Usually Microsoft press conferences a CeBIT are extremely boring and generally are in 99% not about mobility (but usually about enteprise software). However this year apparently Microsoft wants to announce a deal with Intel regarding Microsoft Origami - at their press conference at CeBIT! ... and unlike 3GSM where Microsoft's press conference of over 70% consisted of Windows Mobile, at CeBIT it will be only 2-5%. The conference will take place in combined (for this occasion) rooms of names "Paris" and "Brüssel" in Hall 1:
The time of the press conference: Thursday, March 9, 2006, between 11:00 and 12:00 CET (in the morning). The speaker will be Christoph Wilfert, who is COO at Microsoft Deutschland GmbH (i.e. Microsoft Germany) and the title of the press conference will be "Microsoft 2006 - Bereit für den Erfolg" (our translation to English: "Microsoft 2006 - ready for success"). At first glance it looks like yet another, typical, boring, Microsoft press conference at CeBIT, and it even looks like it will be in German, not in English... but due to the fact that now there is a lot of buzz about Microsoft Origami and some sources claim (unconfirmed yet) that alliance related to Origami Project between Intel and Microsoft will be announced at this press conference - it may be that Microsoft's press conference will be for the first time an interesting one - from the point of view of mobility! It looks like the main focus of Microsoft's presence at CeBIT this year will be Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007. Please note: while CeBIT is accessible for regular visitors (consumers), professionals, exhibitors and journalists, this press conference, as the name indicates, is accessible only for accredited press (journalists).
