Smartphones provide wireless network operators with new and exciting opportunities for driving services revenue. DAT and Action Engine have developed a range of over-the-air (OTA) software utilities that allows the subscriber to get the maximum value out of their devices while reducing the support burden to the Operator. One of the features of the Device Management Platform enables subscribers to search, select, pay and download applications OTA to their smart device. MapPoint .NET is Microsoft´s developer platform for integrating location into mobile applications. This session will begin with an overview of MapPoint .NET and it´s specific capabilities such as Map Rendering and Reverse Geocoding. We will then look at how these capabilities can be used by developers as the location building blocks of anytype of mobile application, from WAP to smart devices. Finally, we will move into examining the source code of a live Pocket PC Phone Edition application to see MapPoint .NET in action.

Dive deep into the development process for creating a notification application using SQL Server Notification Services. This is a code-intensive session with few slides, using a stock quotes notification application as the example. We will build the foundation for the application using built-in NS components. Next, we will add data sources from an existing application using a SQL Server event provider. We will then build the delivery portion of the application by creating rich notifications using a custom content formatter, and send the notifications to cell phones via a custom delivery protocol.
