O2 UK to launch MS Smartphone with Wi-Fi soon: O2 XDA IQ March 30, 2006 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. After Vodafone, also O2 will start selling MS Smartphone with built-in Wi-Fi. By now one could buy MS Smartphone mobiles with built-in Wi-Fi only from external distributors under such brands as i-mate and Qtek, but now it is changing - wireless carriers start offering them too although they must be scared that users will use Wi-Fi instead of GPRS/EDGE... Having Wi-Fi in MS Smartphone is good not just for free Internet browsing at the hotspot, but also to synchronize AvantGo for MS Smartphone or to synchronize podcasts directly to the smartphone (without PC)... We're just getting word in that O2 UK are preparing to launch the 'XDA IQ', a HTC Tornado based Smartphone identical to the QTek 8310 and the iMate SP5. The device, which is set to ship with AKU2 already installed, will be offered as part of a forthcoming Push Email package. WiFi will of course be included. Our sources tell us the device is intially priced at £100 on a Business connection / upgrade, no word on a consumer retail price as yet, but watch this space! To learn more click here.
