DualCor cPC available for purchase for selected companies in early adopter program April 01, 2006 [mobile PCs (Tablet PC, mini-PC, ...)] | By Edward J. R. cPC from DualCor company is the only device that combines Windows Mobile for Pocket PC Phone Edition and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition in one device. It looks like DualCor failed to deliver on promise: to release the cPC in Q1 2006, so to save face they are announcing "LEAP" program designed for corporate customers - consumers still will not be able to buy this device.
There are 2 explanations of this situation: either DualCor cPC is a vaporware and once venture capital money will be used up, the company will go bankrupt, or, possibly: seeing that Microsoft Origami (Ultra Mobile PC) devices are coming soon (May 2006) the DualCor is repositioning itself to abandon consumer market and to focus on corporate market (companies) instead. The window of opportunity for cPC device is short - Origami/UPMC computers are coming very soon - so DualCor must hurry up in order not to become yet another Gizmondo-like failure... More information from DualCor follows. * * * * * DualCor Technologies announces leadership early adopter program DualCor Technologies, Inc., a provider of strategic enterprise mobility solutions, today announced its DualCor Leadership Early Adopter Program (LEAP). The DualCor LEAP provides companies an opportunity to review and test the DualCor cPC in their enterprise as well as influence DualCor future product development activities. DualCor’s signature product, the DualCor cPC, is the world’s first ultra portable personal computer to simultaneously run full-function Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 and Windows Mobile 5.0 operating systems. The DualCor cPC is the only all-in-one, wireless handtop computer that combines the power of a desktop PC, the instant-on convenience of a PDA and the always-connected functionality of a cell phone. “DualCor LEAP allows companies a first opportunity to experience the instant-on connectivity, undiluted functionality and uncompromised computing power and battery life that only the cPC can provide,” said Steve Hanley, president and chief executive officer, DualCor Technologies. "By implementing this program, partners are able to develop the correct strategy for cPC deployment across their enterprise. More than 30 charter members representing the medical, retail, transportation and government sectors have already joined and we’re excited by the overwhelmingly positive response.” DualCor LEAP members have committed to purchase units of the DualCor cPC handtop and advise DualCor senior management on future product development activities. Based on the purchase of a minimum quantity of units, DualCor LEAP partners will receive cPC technology upgrades to ensure their enterprise is equipped for maximum impact and reliability. In addition, LEAP members are ensured product fulfillment priority based on their long-term deployment forecast. The DualCor cPC allows companies to extend the value of existing enterprise application software investments to mobile sales, marketing and field service knowledge workers. Its fully patented, dual-processor architecture and integrated 40 GB hard drive allow users to run real-time, non-diluted versions of enterprise applications like SAP, Oracle and Microsoft in the field as easily, and with the same effectiveness, as they are used in the office. As a result of DualCor’s unique, dual-processor architecture, existing enterprise application software user licenses that were previously constrained by hardware limitations can now be optimally deployed in a mobile environment.
